Latitude & Longitude
We could be from somewhere else, at any time, or not at all. We did not choose this existence. Nationalism is problematic. This series examines our random and choiceless existence. Works in this series are created by asking a participant questions, with each answer being a number. Those numbers are placed into an equation whereby the outcome is a latitude and longitude point. A work is then created inspired by this new geographical existence for the participant using maps, photos, writings, etc.
Questions include: (1) birth year, (2) number of siblings, (3) number of children, (4) number of people in current residence, (5) number of schools attended, (6) zip code where born, (7) zip code in formative years, and (8) current zip code.
Titles are participant's name and new location. Series 2017 to present.
